History:
Akios Trayus was born to a farming family on the distant planet Bal Fel. For some 18 years, Akios lived the simple life of a farmer. It was a good life, but it could not last forever. His heart longed for adventure, to explore the wide world around him and the even wider Galaxy surrounding his planet. One night, Akios announced his departure. His parents were stricken, but understood well. There were other sons and daughters who had no such thoughts of leaving, and so, Akios' parents let him go on his own way without much argument. They told him that it would be dangerous, and that he would fall on hard times for certain.
"You had better keep in touch, or not even the Republic will stop me from finding you and giving you a good thrashing!" His mother had said.
And so, Akios set out on his own.
He travelled his homeworld wide and far, learning of its various cultures and customs. He explored the vast forests and gigantic mountain ranges which comprised Bal Fel's landscape. He visited the planet's major cities and spaceports, including the planetary capital.
It was in these cities that Akios experienced his greatest trials and tribulations. The details aren't necessary, but some of the highlights were Swoop racing, gambling, debt, and criminals. Akios received many beatings in this period of his life, and his life was in mortal peril more than a few times. Eventually, Akios fought his way out of these troubles (quite literally in most cases), and got a job on a freight frigate.
The job did not pay well, but it ran a trade route that took it allover the Galaxy, thus granting Akios the opportunity to see and explore new worlds. The good times aboard the freighter ended abruptly when the merchant convoy was waylaid by Pirates. Akios was one of the few survivors of the pirate raid, and was one of the even fewer to be press-ganged into the pirate crew. Here, Akios learned to pilot fighter-craft, and eventually, he acquired his very own ship, the Cutter.
When Akios was nearing the age of thirty-five, his homeworld was experiencing turmoil. War had erupted between the dominant government of Bal Fel (which the planet is named after, coincidentally) whose people are simply called by the Republic as the Balmolagmer, and the savage Argonians***, a war-loving, reptilian race. The war was vicious, and no region of Bal Fel was untouched by the warfare. Within the first year of the conflict, the bloodshed had already become greater than that of either culture's histories. Both people's were fighting for total victory; in other words, complete annihilation of the opponent.
Akios was stricken by the war, and returned home as soon as he could. When he went to his small farm in the countryside, he found the place in ruins. Craters pockmarked the land, the trees were decimated, and the land was wrecked. There was no trace of his family or their little plot of land. They were gone forever.
Upon seeing this Akios joined the Bal Fel Legions, and participated in the war. Many battles were fought, and Akios served under many fine leaders in many brave platoons, and he participated in many key battles. As the war stretched on, Akios rose in rank, eventually becoming a Sergeant, where he stayed until the end of the war.
The conflict on Bal Fel had also become a political hotspot for the Galactic Republic, the Jedi, and the Sith. While the Balmolagmer and the Argonians carried out there war, the Republic enacted stict trade policies upon Bal Fel, too much protest of the Bal Fel government. No weapons or war supplies were to be sold to the Balmolagmer by profiteering companies and trade unions. Food, medicine, and building supplies were the only things allowed, only under the condition that they were not used to benefit either of the warring parties. Furthermore, no military aide was provided by any government in the Galaxy to either side. The Republic feared the war would spill out into new arenas, planet-by-planet.
The Jedi conducted much trade negotiations and, less successfully, peace negotiations. They were praised by the Republic for the efforts to aide both the Balmolgmer and the Argonian peoples equally and without discrepency; they were despised by all who were fighting the war, who viewed the Jedi as meddlesome in a private affair. When it became clear that no peace could be reached between the warring nations, the Sith got involved.
The Sith brought with them custom weaponry, and battalions of their own warriors. Many of their own generals and other military leaders forcibly replaced the Bal Fel Legions' own. This caused much controversy and unrest among the Legion troops, and for a time, resulted in terrible losses for the Bal Fel Legions. When it was clear that the Sith were there until the end of the war, the Balmolagmer soldiers learned to work with the Sith troops. Within six months of the Sith's entry into the Bal Fel conflict, the war was ended. The Argonians were nearly exterminated, and what few Aegonian survivors there were fled their homeworld and were never heard from again.
After the war, Akios stayed on in the military, which was now focusing on rebuilding their war-torn planet. The losses were staggering. Billions dead, even more homeless and starving. There was much work to done, and when the Sith left, the Jedi took their place, aiding the efforts to rebuild Bal Fel. Bal Fel continues to rebuild to it's former glory even unto this day.
Not all of the Sith left Bal Fel. A handful stayed behind in order to retain their lofty positions within the Bal Fel Legions. Yet again, this was cause for much controversy, and both the Republic and the Jedi Order turned a blind eye. It was at this time that Akios entered into Bal Fel's political arena. He eventually won a seat in Congress, and spoke strongly against the Sith who had ingrained themselves into the Legions. With the people's vote behind, Akios was able to force all but one of the Sith out of the Legions. The last remaining Sith was the General. He refused to leave, arguing that he had led the Legions into total victory, whereas the Balmolagmer leader before him had failed even after ten years of fighting. Furthermore, the Sith General employed a traditional Bal Fel martial law to his advantage, the one which stated that on issues of rank, no soldier of the Legions could be replaced unless they were killed or someone better was found.
"If you wish me replaced, you will have to face me in a honorable duel. I shall even go so far as to limit myself. I will not use the fearsome power of the Force against whoever would face me, a power which I and my Sith troops demonstrated in full against the savage beasts." The Sith General challenged.
Akios answered that challenge, and in a well-publicized battle, defeated the Sith. Akios took the lightsaber as a prize, and in private, began his self-study of lightsaber combat.
To this day, there have been no more great events in Akios Trayus' life. It has been what one could consider normal for a politician-slash-general. He of course had his hands full with the rebuilding efforts, and there were some military conflicts he had to face. These conflicts, however, were nothing in comparison with the bitter war his nation had just fought 10 years ago.
Occupation: General of the Bal Fel Legions. Congressman.
Optional sides, preferably: Akios Trayus plays this one pretty close to the chest. No one can guess who he would ally himself with.
*Non-Canonical. I made it up.
**His skills are untested.
***That's right! I'm shamelessly stealing names and ideas from The Elder Scrolls. Sue me Bethesda! =)
I realize now that I'm creating a character with a pretty powerful role. A General, and an influential politician (sort of).
Is this too much?
I want this character to contribute to the 'plot' of Freedom of the Force here, so I made sure Akios Trayus was a powerful, influential individual. He has limitations and boundaries that keep him from being too powerful of course. The Bal Fel government is a democracy, so Akios does not have great political power. He has to debate and get the people's vote behind him like every one else. And some of his political ideas are too radical for the people to ever get behind anyways.
What do you think, oh Sagacious Mods?

Spaceship: Kuati Systems Firespray-class Patrol and Assault Craft
Skills:
- Combat: Familiar with all types of weaponry and explosives. More comfortable with any of Bal Fel Legion's weaponry as opposed to designs from other planets. Moderately comfortable with Neutral Industries, like BlasTech.
- Lightsaber: Though Akios is not a wielder of the Force, he can and does use a Lightsaber. After many years of self-study and training, he has became talented with the traditional Sith weapon. His skills, of course, pale in comparison to that of a Jedi Knight or a Sith Lord, but with luck and focus, he belives he can match blades with them**.
- Vision & Focus: Again, Akios is not a wielder of the force. He cannot use mind tricks, and he cannot move things with his mind. In fact, he refuses to try. However, as a Miralukan, he can see with the Force, and as a result, he is constantly aware of every minute detail of his surroundings. Also, when he focuses himself, he finds that he can predict an opponent's next move.
- Leadership: Greatly respected by the people and soldiers of Bal Fel. Politicians do not like him for some of the military decisions he makes and for the political views he holds.
- Politics: Holds a seat on Bal Fel Congress, and has the people behind him. Still, he is not as adept a Politician as he is a General.
- Piloting: No one can live a life of warfare and danger in the Galaxy without knowing how to pilot spacecraft. Not for very long. Akios is a skilled pilot, but he has had to learn and aquire those skills the hard way. He does not have the natural touch or innate talent.
